Finance Partner Sheel Patel Joins King & Spalding in New York

“Finding talented and motivated partners like Sheel is at the heart of our strategy of providing clients with access to top-notch advice who can advise them on their toughest and most complex financing transactions,” said declared Todd Holleman, head of the firm’s CFI practice group. “He will add depth to our finance team and be a valuable resource for our clients who are looking for opportunities to grow their uninvested capital.”

Patel has over a decade of experience handling complex trade finance transactions across a variety of industries. He regularly represents private capital providers, financial institutions, private equity sponsors and corporate borrowers in connection with leveraged and investment grade financing transactions, asset-based financing transactions, mezzanine loans, high yield issues, event and opportunistic financing transactions, as well as special situations, restructurings, restructurings and insolvency matters.

“Sheel has a well-rounded practice and an impressive financial pedigree, and comes highly recommended to us by clients and partners who have worked with him and know him personally,” said Jennifer Daly, head of the firm’s Private Credit and Special Situations team. “Our practice is extremely busy and so we are delighted to add to the Sheel team, who enjoy excellent relationships with a number of mutual clients.”

Patel, who joined the firm from Jones Day, earned his undergraduate degree from tulane university and his JD of Hofstra University, with much praise.

“King & Spalding’s tight-knit global platform enables lawyers to provide unified, sophisticated and comprehensive legal advice to their clients,” Patel said. “Its collegial and entrepreneurial culture is what drew me to the firm and its depth and experience in all types of complex financing transactions and restructuring matters are very synergistic for my practice.”

Earlier this month, structured finance partner David Ridenour also joined the firm’s CFI practice in its washington d.c., Office.
