ING has hired a former Westpac banker to join as its new head of real estate finance in Australia.
Darren Beatty join ING as head of real estate finance Australia, according to a statement, reporting to interim head of wholesale banking Australia Margreet Rog Stokkink and head of real estate finance APAC Robert Scholten.
Beatty succeeds Wouter Mijnen who will return to ING’s head office in Amsterdam following a five-year stint in Australia.
Beatty has more than 20 years of banking experience, most recently with Westpac where he spent eight years, last as a senior director for institutional real estate. Previously, he also worked for Commonwealth Bank of Australia in its institutional banking and markets team.
“Commercial real estate is a priority growth sector for us in Australia,” said Scholten. “[Beatty’s] depth and breadth of international and domestic experience will no doubt be an asset to the further growth of our business in Australia, the broader APAC region and beyond.”
