Lightsource bp is now entering a new phase of rapid growth, backed by a recent groundbreaking investment of $1.8 billion to support the company’s ambitious goal of 25 GW of solar power developed by 2025. Bernardo said nearly a decade of experience leading the finance function of a major renewable energy platform, making him an invaluable addition to Lightsource bp’s global leadership team as the business takes important steps to meet the urgent need to act against climate change.

Having previously worked in the US, Spain and Portugal, Bernardo will join Lightsource bp initially at the company’s San Francisco office, before relocating to the UK and being based at the London headquarters. Bernardo has nearly two decades of experience in the energy industry and prior to working at EDPR North America as well as EDPR SA Head Office, he held various financial assignments at Constellation Energy Group and within the BMW group. Bernardo is also, since 2018, President of the Portugal-United States Chamber of Commerce, and he has a wide range of qualifications from several high-level institutions, including UVA-Darden Business School, Harvard Business School, the Wharton School and the London Business School.
Since 2010, Lightsource bp has developed over 5.4 GW of solar assets worldwide, with a pipeline of over 20 GW.
