Public input sought on marketing strategy for downtown Prince George

Prince George’s Town and Prince George’s Downtown are developing a downtown marketing and marketing strategy, and are seeking public input.

Residents can give their opinions by filling out an online survey at www.princegeorge.ca/getinvolved until February 7. Survey participants can sign up to win a $300 downtown experience package.

Once complete, the plan will include recommendations on how to make downtown a more desirable location for businesses, residents, and visitors.

“Maintaining a stable workforce and attracting people with the right skills is a major barrier to growth by many residents and businesses,” Melissa Barcelos, the city’s director of economic development, said in a press release. “Having a vibrant city center and a high quality of life will help employers attract and retain qualified employees. Many people look for the kinds of lifestyle offerings a city has to offer when choosing where to live and work.”

The city hired Resonance Consultancy to help develop the strategy at a cost of $65,000. An advisory panel made up of four city representatives and four Downtown Prince George (including two downtown business representatives) is consulted throughout the process.

Survey results will be reviewed and reported to survey participants in March.

“The opportunity to work on this strategy in collaboration with the City of Prince George and its citizens fulfills our vision of supporting and developing the economic vitality and energy of Downtown Prince George,” said Colin Van Mok, Executive Director of Prince George Town, in a press release. . “Given the challenges of the past year, this is a great time to renew our efforts with tangible marketing tools and placement industry concepts that will support and encourage more people to live, work, spend time and open businesses downtown.”
