Ut Finance Panel Nod To 2 Solar Plants | Chandigarh News

Chandigarh: The standing finance committee in a meeting chaired by UT adviser Dharam Pal on Friday approved two major proposals of Crest to install solar power plants of total capacity of 2.8 MW.
A 2 MW floating solar power plant will be put up at the raw water tanks of waterworks in Sector 39. It will generate 28 million units of electricity, according to the plan. This project will also help in reduction in evaporation of up to 382 million liters of water annually and generate more power than other solar projects, officials said. An 800kWp solar power plant will come up at Sector 42 lake parking. It will serve dual purposes of providing shelter to vehicles and generating electricity at the same time.
Chief conservator of forests Debendra Dalai, finance secretary Dr Vijay Namdeorao Zade and chief engineer CB Ojha were among others present in the meeting.
